As Liang Ruichen says in the Order, "it basically strips from the original work, the Dream of Red Mansions, but not completely free from it. In the novel, the sentimental Lin Daiyu becomes strong and healthy; the shrewish and sketchy Xue Baochai becomes gentle and easy-going; Jia Baoyu is no longer cowardly." In the Story of Baoyu, the fates of the three characters are non-tragedy, giving the happy ending for Chinese people's preference, which is very different from the ending of the version of Gao'e. )
